1. The Sir John Holland RAE Golf Day competing for the Evans-Zoller Trophy will be played on Monday, 20 October 2025 from 0730h at Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
The Evans-Zoller Trophy is played for by RAE and allied forces' officers, the competition rules were amended for RAE and allied officers (described as eligible players in the attached brief) to invite a partner. Where there are Sappers/NCO's/WO wishing to play the 'organisers' will aim to match them up with an eligible player.
‘Our host for this day is CAPT (retd) Bill McAuley RAE. He extends the invitation to play. We are his guests for the day. He thus assumes responsibility for his guests behaviour throughout.’
a. Please read the attached Competition brief and email on RMGC etiquette.
b. Please arrive at Royal Melbourne Golf Club no later than 0730h to organise teams. A brief to players will be conducted at 0730h sharp with an 0800h tee-off this year on the West Course. [Please note the allocation of a different course and earlier multi tee start this year.]
c. Green fees are $180 and are to be paid in advance of the day to ensure your ticket and participation. In 2022 thru 2024 the RAE Association of VIC generously made available an account to provide options for payment in advance of the day, and I will be requesting the same for 2025. MAJ Robert Cox will send out the link or instruction for payment when RSVPs are received. A final account of full payment will be confirmed on the day prior to each player teeing-off at the first hole.
d. Please read below regarding dress!
e. Could I ask you all to please RSVP your attendance to the golf day to myself: Maj Robert Cox – robert.cox@defence.gov.au . If you have already partnered with another golfer please attach their golf handicap as well as yours (if you have one) to your RSVP. Please have all RSVPs to me as soon as possible. [The final list of players will be submitted Thur, 16 Oct 25.]
f. Markers will be provided at Par 4 Holes TBA for the ‘Longest Drive’ and Par 3 Holes TBA for the ‘Closest to Pin’ with further confirmation on the day.
g. Presentations will be conducted shortly after conclusion of play and as soon as the scores are tallied in the Club House. Given the earlier start timing this year this is likely to occur at approximately 1330h. Non-players and RAE members who wish to join the team after the golf are highly encouraged.
h. Sponsorship for Individual trophies and awards is currently under construction and members representing any confirmed sponsors are likely to be present on the day - TBA.
