Sir John Holland RAE Golf Day - The Evans‐Zoller Trophy Royal Melbourne Golf Club
Royal Melbourne Golf Club
09:30 – 18:00
Background The Corps has traditionally played a golf competition for serving, former serving RAE and allied engineer officers at Royal Melbourne since the early/mid 1950s. The day was originally hosted by Sir John Holland, a distinguished WW2 RAE and Z Special Unit Officer and Club Captain at RMGC. For many years, officers played for The Evans‐Zoller Trophy donated by Major Stan Evans and LTCOL Alex Zoller RE, old friends of Sir John. Since the passing of Sir John, a perpetual trophy was established, The Holland Cup, to mark the contribution that Sir John made to the RAE. Around the 64th anniversary of this day will be celebrated on Monday, 17th October 2022. Interstate players are most welcome. Eligibility The event is open to serving, former serving RAE and allied forces engineer officers. Each eligible player is able to host one guest who can be either military (any rank) or civilian. Individuals compete for the Sir John Holland Cup, whilst teams compete for the Evans‐Zoller Trophy. Competition Format The competition format is a Four Ball Stableford Aggregate played with a partner, as in a classic Four‐Ball Stableford. Individual full handicaps are applied to each player and the number of points scored by each player is recorded at the completion of every hole, as well as a total or aggregate for the team. Again, when marking the score card, the number of strokes taken must always be shown for holes where points are scored. Thus, the card records both strokes and points. Registration The closing date for registrations is Monday, 10th October 2022. Registrations are to be by email with players details, including rank and current handicap to MAJ Robert Cox at robert.cox@defence.gov.au Dress and Etiquette Players are reminded that they are playing by invitation at a private golf course with strict rules regarding dress and etiquette. Players are requested to familiarise themselves with the rules at the RMGC website, www.rmgc.com.au. Players who are hosting a guest are responsible to ensure their guest complies with the Club Rules. A jacket and tie is required for the presentation of trophies in the clubhouse after play. Any questions relating to RMGC matters should be referred to the Host RMGC Member.
